The EDS-Navy Marine Corps
Intranet (NMCI) is a comprehensive, enterprise-wide initiative that will
give the Navy and Marine Corps secure universal access to integrated
voice, video and data communications during war. It will provide
pier-side connectivity to Navy vessels in port and link more than
360,000 desktops across the United States in addition to sites in Puerto
Rico, Iceland and Cuba.
As one of NMCI’s primary Small Business Teaming Partners for the EDS
Strike Force, DTSI has been a key source for critical infrastructure
support, which includes projects ranging across the entire NMCI program
such as: transition, enterprise wide support (network operation centers
and help desk) and desk side support.
The EDS-DTSI Desktop Validation project requires team members to record
and validate the hardware and software on the desktop and/or laptop for
each individual computer user. Validation consists of a Desktop
assessment that first inventories and captures existing desktop computer
equipment configurations and software applications. Then, it provides,
an “Environmental Assessment” that identifies the office environment
within a facility.
As part of the NMCI rollout to Navy personnel, DTSI provides site
support to managers, ensuring a seamless transition from the pre-NMCI
operational environment to the NMCI environment without impacting
operations.
The desk side support provided by EDS-DTSI includes the installation of
hardware, software and peripherals to the network. EDS-DTSI will also
train users and administer the Network Operating System (NOS), Network
Directory Services (NDS) and Network File Servers.
DTSI’s demonstrated ability to respond quickly and successfully to
NMCI’s diverse requirements is one more major contributing factor to its
status as a prime Small Business Teaming partner on the NMCI Strike
Force.
